Railroad Pictures

Okay, where are the train nuts? I know you're out there. This one's for you. RailPictures ( http://www.railpictures.net/ ) is an online database of over 28,000 railroad-related pictures browsable in many different ways. Look for the search options in the drop down menus on the front page. You can browse by locomotive type. You can browse by railroad, country/state, year, photographer, and category! And if you're not into all that you can search by keyword.

A search for "Taggart" found 0 results. Just kidding. A search for "bridge" found over 1100 results with one of the nicest search result pages I've seen in a long time. Search results pages have a substantial picture of each photo found, along with the name of the locomotive, location and date of the photo, and photographer name. Click the photograph for a much larger version, and a few additional photo details. There's also a space for comments made on the photograph and a tally of the number of views of that photograph.

There are some other goodies available on this site as well. You can visit forums and a chat room, take a poll, and check out some editor's picks. Recommended.
