October 02, 2003The Quilt Index!Looking for information on quilts? Sure you are. Check out the Quilt Index at http://www.quiltindex.org/ . The Quilt Index aggregates resources from four separate archives: the Michigan State University Museum, the University of Louisville Archives and Records Center, the Illinois State Museum and the Tennessee State Library and Archives. This site has "exhibits," but you can also search the site by keyword or browse by category. There are several different types of categories, including time period (several time periods covering from 1800 to 1999), style/technique (crazy, squares, novelty, etc.), and location. Pick a category and you'll get a list of quilt thumbnails and some basic information about the site. Click on the thumbnail and you'll get a link to a full record which includes a variety of technical and practical information about the quilt and some gorgeous quilt pictures.
