November 17, 2003Make Your Own RSS Feed With FeedsterIf you don't use a Web site software package that generates its own RSS, you may have despaired of creating your own RSS feeds (or you may have gritted your teeth and started doing them by hand, as I did for over three years.) Fear not! Feedster has a new tool for creating RSS feeds at http://feedster.com/builder.php?next=cfintro . (This feature is apparently undergoing some revision, but I want you to be aware of it now.) You'll have to be able to edit your HTML page to get this to work (in other words, you won't be able to point it at somebody else's Web site and "scrape" it.) You'll walk through a series of steps to set up the feed. You'll first provide information about the blog name and URL. Once you've done that Feedster will make a space to host your RSS URL. Finally, Feedster will give you instructions on how to put SPAN tags around RSS items and permanent links. If you know your way around HTML you shouldn't have a problem with this; take a look.
