November 17, 2003U of Oregon Offers Data for Local Communities SiteThe University of Oregon Libraries is now offering a "Data for Local Communities" Web site at http://libweb.uoregon.edu/dlc/ . The front page of the site is an interesting study in dropdown menus with several different levels of information available. The first part of the search is a plain keyword box, but you have the option to limit that search by topic (from Agriculture to Voting and Elections) and geographic area (from administration to zip code.) You can also browse the data by the selfsame topic and geographic areas. I browsed the Industry and Technology section. I got a list of resources relevant to industry and technology with titles, a note as to whether it was an electronic resource or not, authors, and great annotation. I also got the option to refine my search by entering an additional keyword. Look down below the search on the front page and you'll find additional resources, including a search for writings on Oregon communities as well as links to statistics and geospatial data links.
