Find Out What's Popular With Blogpulse

Hey, how did I miss this? If you're looking for the buzz in blog discussion, you could do a lot worse than Blogpulse. It's still in beta and I found a couple of wonky things on my tour, but some useful stuff as well.

Blogpulse, at http://www.blogpulse.com , offers topic popularity information in several different formats. From the front page you can view key phrases which have gained popularity in the last two weeks, top people (slight wonkiness -- three of the top people when I looked were Woo Hoo, Ha Ha Ha, and Feliz Navidad), blog entries which encompass the top themes, and the top links for a particular day. Archived days are on the left side of the front page. These lists are generated by mining the content of 80,000 Weblogs.

Some of the listing formats are simple -- the most popular keyword phrases, for example, shows a list of phrases and provides a list of citations for each phrase on separate pages. The people listing, on the other hand, show a sample citation and links to Weblog entries which mention that person. (Some of these entries are not work safe due to language.) Neat stuff; unfortunately only one category is available in RSS format (key phrases, in two different versions.)
