A Little Update on the New Google Syntaxes

A couple of updates on the new Google Syntaxes:

- Area Code: Search on an area code and you'll get a link to a map of that area code. While I was using this I wondered if you could search Google's phone book by area code AND YOU CAN. Try using this search: bphonebook:tires 336 . You'll see that the results you get are from many different cities but all from the same area code. NICE.

- Whois: I still can't get the Whois function to work.

- UPC: I am told that I need to include the little numbers to the left and the right of the bar code (they're in a different font from the numbers within the bar code, at least on the items I picked up.) When you search for the entire UPC thus, you'll get a link to look up the item in a UPC database. Try it out for yourself with 657622927934 .

- Google Labs: Google has slightly reformatted the Google Labs at http://labs.google.com/ . You'll see now that there are "graduates" of Google Labs on the right (including News Alerts and Google Glossary) and what I guess are ongoing lab experiments on the left.
