Historic Markers In Utah

After I did the thing on historic markers in New York I got about a zillion e-mails saying, "Hey, my state has its historic markers online too!" I don't think I'll cover all of them, but I can cover a few. In this case I'll cover the ones in Utah, which are available at
http://history.utah.gov/library/markers.html .

Like New York, this is a searchable database of historic markers but there are a few additional search options. You may search by keyword, county, theme (everything from Animals to ZCMI) and even who put up the marker (from the Boy Scouts to Utah State University).

A search for "platte" found five results presented in a table with the title of the marker, city, county, and marker number. Click on the title of the marker and you'll get a complete transcription of the marker and details about the site of the marker, survey date, marker construction date, and a bevy of other details.
