February 09, 2004A New Web Site for Information on American GovernorsThe National Governors Association has announced a new site providing information on the governors of the United States. The site contains information on both current and historical governors and is available at http://www.nga.org/governors/1,1169,C_SEARCH_GO%20V,00.html . The front page of the site gives you a list of current governors, from Alabama's Robert Riley to Wyoming's Dave Freudenthal. Each governor has a page which includes their birth date, a picture, address, and official Web site. In some cases there's also audio of the governor speaking. There's also an option to search for past governors, which is still in development. (Currently all past governors are included for states through Iowa.) I searched for governors in California from 1890-1930. The search results listed ten governors. These governor pages list birth and death dates, biography, name of spouse, length of term, and sources for the information. More recent pages, like Jerry Brown's, include a picture and current Additional information sources on the site include lists of governor Web addresses and media contacts. There are also listings of speeches and trivia about governors. Posted to Government-US | TrackBack
