CNET Adds News Alerts

Tech news site CNET is testing news alerts -- notification of new content by e-mail. I would have been a bit blah on 'em if they were just topic, but there are also keyword alerts available. You can sign up for 'em at http://news.com.com/2030-52-5149595.html .

But you will have to register and answer some corporate-oriented questions. (Purchase involvement? Purchase authority?) Once you've done that you'll have the opportunity to set up the news alerts. The keyword alerts are Boolean AND and can be set to deliver as they're posted or once a day. The company alert allows you to select from a list of companies, from 3COM to Yahoo. The list does not include private companies, so you'll have to use keyword if you want to get Google news. And the topic search
allows you to search from a dozen major and a lot
more minor topics, presented in outline format.
