New Georgia Encyclopedia Now Available

The state of Georgia is now offering their New Georgia Encyclopedia at http://www.georgiaencyclopedia.org/nge/Home.jsp . You'll need to have QuickTime installed, and the whole shmeal starts with a Flash introduction, but once you get past that there's a lot of content here.

Along the left side of the page there's a variety of topics including The Arts, Folklife, Media, and Religion. The topics are listed in an outline format so you'll find yourself drilling down through a lot of categories. This site is also a work in progress so sometimes you'll find yourself drilling down through categories that are, as yet, empty. The existing articles are good, though; the article on 19th century Georgia newspapers included images, extensive information, and suggested reading.

If you don't want to browse but instead want to get
right to the articles, look at the navs at the top
of the page. There you can browse by article,
authors, and forthcoming articles (big list), get
quick facts about Georgia, wander through virtual
galleries and review feature biographies.
