February 04, 2004New Stuff At GigablastGigablast, also known as the little search engine that could (well, that's how I know it, anyway) is offering a few new options. First thing is the inclusion of direct links to the Internet archives -- pretty dang smart. Go to GigaBlast ( http://www.gigablast.com ) and run a search. You'll see on the results page that there's an "older copies" link next to "archived copies" that takes you to any available pages in the Internet archives. Gigablast is also offering "Giga Bits." Giga Bits works as a combination related concept generator and natural language search engine. Search for a question in your search: What is the capital of Kentucky? At the top of the search results you will see several "Giga Bits" in a blue bar. The answer (Frankfort) is there, but you'll have to know that it's Frankfort and not, say, Berea. Okay, so maybe that doesn't work so good (and you can't ask concept questions like "Why is the sky blue?") But it is a good concept generator. Search for Jimi Hendrix. Related concepts include guitar, "All Along the Watchtower", and "Live at Woodstock". Clicking on a concept will repeat your seach with the original search and the concept search you clicked on. Clicking on "More" beside the phrase "Giga Bits" will give you an extended set of related concepts. Posted to Search Engines-Various | TrackBack
