March 22, 2004Genealogy Search Help Offers Specialized Google FormsThis site doesn't offer its own search engine but some specialized genealogy search help for ancestor hunting folks. Genealogy Search Help ( http://www.genealogy-search-help.com/ ) provides a search form that'll look familiar to those who do a lot of genealogy searching online, and adapts that search for Google. The search form has a spot for the name of the person for whom you're searching, the name of their parents, and the name of their spouse. You can also enter their place of birth and place of death. Once you've filled out the form as completely as you can (you don't have to fill the entire thing out) the site will generate potential Google searches for you. The thing I like about this site is that it shows you the query it generated, giving you assistance and ideas for generating your own queries. In addition to the Google search this site also links to genealogy-search-advice.com, which asks a series of questions about the ancestor you're searching and generates a page of recommended links and Google searches to try.
