March 30, 2004New Database on Crime, Mystery, and Detective Fiction, Film, and TelevisionIf you're all about the clues and the mysteries and the detectives, you'll enjoy Crime Fiction Canada, which despite its name covers crime fiction, film, and television from all over the world. It's available at http://www.brocku.ca/crimefictioncanada . There are actually several lists of information available here They're described at http://www.brocku.ca/crimefictioncanada/list_all_items.phtml?first=true . They include General Criticism of Crime, Mystery and Detective Fiction, Dissertations on the Genre, and General Criticism of Crime Mystery and Detection on Television . You may view everything in a particular list or you may search by keyword. A search for Rowland turned up nothing for Laura Joh Rowland, who writes mysteries set in 17th century Japan. A search for Agatha Christie turned up bunches of results, divided into categories (people have written dissertations on Agatha Christie. Lots of dissertations.) Results are presented in a table which shows ID Number, Author, Title, and Year. Click on the title for additional information including keywords and originating institution (for dissertations) or publication (for articles). This site also has a brief (unfortunately non-annotated) list of mystery sites online and some additional information about the project. Interesting. Posted to Humanities-Literature | TrackBack
