Let's Go Hike A Hike

National Trails Day, is June 5, 2004. If you want to get out and hike a bit, or help take care of trails in the US, visit the American Hiking Society National Trails Day events database at http://www.americanhiking.org/events/ntd/events.html .

There were over 800 events listed last year; new events are still being added to the database. A clickable map of the US lets you select events by state. I picked Colorado and got dozens of result set up in a table giving the name of the organization, name of the event, and city and state. Click on the organization name and you'll get additional event information including a description, time, address, number of participants expected, and what events are expected to take place (hiking, bike riding, trail dedication, etc.)

If you're interested in more than events, this site will also give you information on trail conservation, a trail finder (which includes Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean), and news and resources related to hiking. Nice!
