June 29, 2004FeedDirect -- A Headline Gatherer for Your SiteLooking for a mechanism by which you can add headlines to your Web site? You might want to try FeedDirect, at http://www.feeddirect.com/. It has a wizard that generates JavaScript code that you can use to put news on your site. (This'll look sorta familiar if you used Moreover to create site headlines a while ago.) The main part of the site is the feed setup, which allows you to specify the category and subcategory of your news as well as the feed look. I like the subcategories available here. It's not to the depth of, say, Topix, but there's plenty to choose from (I just wish you could mix a couple of categories into one feed. That would be cool.) It's very Moreoveresque -- is this ex-Moreover? You can also choose from the look of the feed, the number of items in the feed, and the width of the feed. (Design wonks can pick the advanced options and play with fonts, background colors, etc.) Once you've done this, click Get the Code. FeedDirect will request your name, URL, and e-mail address. You'll also have to click a checkbox specifying that you've agreed to terms and conditions. Once you've done that, FeedDirect e-mails you the JavaScript code which you just paste into your site.
