Finding Offline Auctions

Yeah yeah, there's eBay for online auctions, but if you want offline auctions there are other places to go. Like AuctionZip, which lists over 1200 auctions all over the US, searchable by zip code/radius. It's available at http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/introduction.pl.

The front page gives you a search for specifying zip code, radius (from 30 to 500 miles) auction type (half-a-dozen broad categories) and any keywords. I searched for all auctions within 500 miles of 90210. Instead of a list of results you'll get a calendar for the current month. Days which contain auctions are noted. Click on the note and you'll get a summary of the auction, with an available pop-up window which gives you full details, including date, time, location, URL, and description.

While the results only give you the current month, you may page forward and back through the calendar to find additional listings. The site also offers an auctioneers directory (http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctioneers_directory.pl and a registration form for you to submit your own auctions (if you are an auctioneer.)
