June 30, 2004My Summer CampsIt's just about July, and you might still be thinking about summer camps. If you are, head over to My Summer Camps ( http://www.mysummercamps.com/ ), a searchable subject index of camps for kids and teens. Subjects include Day Camps, Traditional Camps, Special Needs Camps, Sports Camps, After-School Programs, and so on. Many of these categories have subcategory listings -- Adventure Camps, for instance, includes Rock Climbing, Primitive Skills, SCUBA, and Caving in its subcategory list. Pick a category/sub category and you'll get listings of camps, in two listings. The top of the listings look like they may be paid listings or in some other way enhanced; they include camp type, location, phone number, description, and a link to a "Learn More" page that includes photographs, session dates, a more extensive description, and a full list of activities. There's also a link to request more information from that camp. The second type of listings just include name, location, phone number, and sometimes a brief description. The number of extensive/plain listings varied by subcategory. In addition to camp listings, this site also had job listings for summer camps, a (fairly unpopulated) forum, listings for rentable camps, a vendor outlet, and information for camp owners.
