June 30, 2004Virginia Tech Imagebase Offers Images In A Variety of CategoriesWhen you first visit the Virginia Tech Imagebase you'll be struck by the number of categories of images available. You'll be able to browse image collections from Agriculture to Virginia Tech University Relations Slide Collection . Most of the collections (called "Folios" on the site) are not as Virginia Tech oriented; the entire list is available at http://imagebase.lib.vt.edu/browse.php . Collections here include a Civil War Collection (over 1400 images), Landscape Architectural & Architectural Images (195 images), Transportation (over 11000 images), and Virginia Agricultural Extension Service (over 5000 images.) Browsing the folios is simple. Click on the title of a folio and you get a list of "sub-folios." You may keyword search the entire collection if you like, or browse through each sub-folio. Images are listed fifteen to a page and include thumbnails and some information; larger images and full record information are available, but separately (full record information comes in a pop-up window, larger images come on a new page.)
