Evite 2.0 Is Launched, Featuring Big Directory of Local Events in US

Evite announced on July 12 that they'd launched Evite 2.0, featuring what they claim is the most comprehensive directory of local events on the Web. There are nearly 50,000 US events in their new events directory.

The local event directory can be accessed from Evite's front page at http://www.evite.com . You choose a category (lifestyle, nightlife, sports, etc -- you can also choose all categories) and a zip code. I chose Sports in 90210, and got nine event listings, including Pilates, youth tennis, and whitewater rafting. Event listings include date and time, location, brief description, and category. Click on the name of the event for more information including longer description, number of times it's been viewed, and a form for leaving feedback.

There's an advanced search for the local events too at http://www.evite.com/pages/gt/search/advanced_search.jsp . The advanced search allows you to search within a radius of a zip code, search by date range, and add keywords to your search. Nice.
