July 27, 2004Passing Notes Offers Weblog and Site DirectoryI'm seeing more of these hybrid sites. It used to be that I could review a directory OR search engine OR database OR whatever, but now they're more blending together more often; usually it's editorial outlet AND information collection. Which is fine with me, the more annotation the merrier. Which brings us to PassingNotes.com, a site for researchers at http://www.passingnotes.com . The front page of the site is all over the map, from an interview with the founder of Spurl.net to the idea of reconstituting food with, um, whiz, to a funeral for HotBot. On the right you'll also see links to discussion forums. But the interesting (for ResearchBuzz readers) bit is on the left, under Research Web Guide. There are several categories here including Deep Web, Software & Tools, and Social Network Analysis. Listings vary in their annotation, from nothing to quite a bit. If you're looking for more in-depth discussion than just listings, check out the articles and papers section for longer, webloggish discussions. I must say I enjoyed the tone of the site; it was breezy but covering dense topics. Visit. Posted to Reference | TrackBack
