July 01, 2004Pest Patrol Launches Large Library of Spyware/PestwarePest Patrol announced this week a new library of spyware information and removal instructions. It's available at http://research.pestpatrol.com/ . When I heard about this my big interest was in the encyclopedia of pests, but there's plenty to see on the front page, including a pestware glossary, information about spies and trojans, a list of languages they're written in, news, trends and analysis, etc. However, there is also an option to search a list of over 21,000 pest descriptions. It's a simple keyword search; I searched for television and got seven results. Results include a variety of information (not all of which is available for all listings), including summary, vendor information, what category it falls into (spyware, adware, etc.), where and when it came from, the percentage it makes up of all pest reports, the risks, and how to manually remove it. Lots and lots of information on this site. I'd like to see a search page that's dedicated to this information, instead of a drop-down menu. Posted to Internet-Reference | TrackBack
