July 23, 2004Recognized Physician DirectoryThe National Committee for Quality Assurance has launched a Web site that features physicians "who demonstrate a high level of performance in providing care" in two specific areas: diabetes and heart disease/stroke. There's also a search that "awards recognition to physician practices that use up-to-date information and systems to enhance patient care." The site is available at http://www.ncqa.org/PhysicianQualityReports.htm . To search it you need to specify state and the program for which you're searching (an advanced search allows you to search by name, city, and zip.) Searching for recognized physicians for the treatment of diabetes in Arizona found two results. Search results list the name of the physician, the address and practice for which they work, and the program for which they won an award. You can click on the name of the physician for a little more information, including phone number and e-mail address. The directory varies a lot in its coverage; Arizona had only two diabetes care providers who won awards, but Georgia had five. Posted to Science-Medicine | TrackBack
