August 12, 2004Get Help In Texas211 Texas is both a phone number and a Web site to point people toward community resources in Texas. There's both a phone number (211, natch) and a Web site (http://www.irissoft.com/fcfh/) to access the information. The Web site has a list of topics, from Abuse/Neglect to Youth Violence Prevention. Click on a topic and you'll get a list of programs, with "major programs" listed first. Listings have the name of the program, address, and phone number, as well as the area served. Click on the name of the program and you'll get more contact information (including Web address), a detailed description of the program, and information on fees, eligibility requirements, and the date of the last update. There are also links to maps as well as a translation link for each item. In addition to browsing by topic, you may also narrow your search by zip code, city, or "larger area" (including county, state region, etc.) You can also keyword-search the topic list in case you're not finding the information you want.
