Langmaker Langmaker, Make Me A Lang.. Uage

You know, there are more made-up languages than just pig latin. Not only are there ones you have probably heard of, like the languages Tolkien invented, and more recent languages like Klingon, but there are also many that were invented by individuals or small groups of people. You can get a raft of information on them at http://www.langmaker.com/ .

The front page contains a variety of news on constructed languages as well as pointers to neologisms (new words; one on the front page is Douglas Adams' and John Lloyd's Aigburth -- "Any piece of readily identifiable anatomy found amongst cooked meat." I do like "snibble" as well, though.) On the left you'll find the meat of the navigation (with no aigburth in sight)-- links to the top ten languages, Tolkien's languages, and more.

There's an A-Z list of constructed languages (from 353 to Zyem) and a directory of languages. Note that not all of these languages are particularly or potentially useful; the language "Chicken" has just one word (guess) and Ook has one word with variations in punctuation and eight combinations (it's a programming language.) Pages for languages include information on when it was started, pointers to sites, examples, language derivatives, and lexicon size.
