Search A Local Index of Pages With Recall Toolbar

Ah, your hard drive, the next frontier in search technology. For a long time there have been specialized tools to search your browser history; here's one that searches an index of visited Web pages you specify. It's called Recall Toolbar and it's available at http://www.recalltoolbar.com ; this is a pointer and not a review as it requires IE. (When it runs under Opera I'll be right there. The developer has said that he wants help making a version for Mozilla/Firefox.)

Here's how it works. When you download the toolbar it places a little square on your browser bar. When you visit a page that you want to add to your personal "visited sites" index, click the square. The FAQ addresses the problem of huge indexes: "My index grows less than a megabyte per day, and I'm a heavy Internet user. You can also instruct Recall Toolbar to throw out pages after a certain number of days, which keeps the size to a minimum."
