September 02, 2004Department of Agriculture Has Quick Stats AvailableLooking for information on agriculture in the US? Quick Stats will help you. The 2002 Census of Agriculture page has a feature that'll let you query the data in several different ways. The page is at http://www.nass.usda.gov/census/ . Choose Quick Stats. (There's also a Quick Facts link that'll give you some interesting information, but it doesn't let you query the database of information like Quick Stats does.) You'll see that you can choose by state or county level, as well as a full census search. I chose state searching, and then decided I wanted to see the number of carrots grown in Texas and New York in 1998. I got a table showing production and processing statistics for carrots in New York and Texas. I also got a button for downloading these statistics in a zipped CSV file for import into a database or spreadsheet. Posted to Science-Agriculture | TrackBack
