Database of Missouri Soldiers Enhanced

The state of Missouri has updated their database of state soldiers to include soldiers from the War of 1812 through World War I, which means that the new database includes over 550,000 Missourians. It's available at http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/soldiers/ .

The site offers a list of the conflicts covered by the database in case you're not from Missouri and you don't know anything about the Heatherly War of 1836 or the Honey War of 1839. There's also a search for soliders. You may search by name, conflict, or in the case of the WWI soliders, branch.

A search for Smith in the database found over 6600 results. Result listings include the name, name of conflict, name of unit (sometimes), company (sometimes) and a details link that provides varying amount of information including rank, where the record came from, and a pointer to the image of the record.
