November 22, 2004EINfinder Searches Database of About 5 Million Federal Employer Identification NumbersYou'll need to register and you supposedly only get three free searches but EINfinder searches a database of almost 5 million EINs (that's Employer Identification Numbers.) It's available at http://www.einfinder.com . You'll need to register on the site. When you register, you'll get three free searches. I registered, and then tried the EIN search for 95-3313195. I got a listing that included the address for the Greenpeace Fund and the EIN. If you click on the EIN in the result, the EIN is searched for in several Free Erisa databases, including the Form 5500 Database, IRS Form 5310 Potential Rollovers, and Tax Exempt Organizations. Greenpeace Fund WAS found in that last one, and the listing provided a little additional information, including a phone number and a dollar listing for revenue and assets. The home page of the site says that everybody gets three free searches, but I did several searches and Free Erisa didn't ding me. I don't know if that's because I was only doing backwards searching (searching by EIN instead of searching by company name/address) but there is information available on the subscription-based information services from the front page.
