Lilly Announces Clinical Trial Registry

Eli Lilly and Company have announced a clinical trial registry which will post results from all Phase I through Phase IV clinical trials of Lilly's marketed products. At the moment, the registry is populated with about half the data intended to be made publicly available. Lilly has promised to make it all available no later than July 2005. The registry's at http://www.lillytrials.com .

The front of the site gives you several options for browsing trial information, including pointers to Trial Results by Therapeutic Area and Trial Results by Product. You can also look at Recruiting Trials, which are studies which need patients. If ever a site needed an RSS feed or e-mail alert service...

I decided to look at Trial Results by Therapeutic Area. From there I was given the options of three categories of disorder. I chose cancer. I got a table of eleven results for four different disorders, grouped by disorder. Tables contained listings for the drug, the disease, the trial title and phase, and pointers to trial results and citations. The citation results number is the number of the trial, it is not the number of citations (in other words, when you see a link called 1500 citations, you are not seeing a link to a PDF which will list 1500 citations, you are seeing a link to a PDF which will list citations for experiment #1500.)
