January 17, 2005A New Search Engine For Finding Distance Learning ClassesIf you're interested in, y'know, getting an actual real online application and not answering some spaham about a prestigious degree from a non-accredited university, check out SearchForClasses.com at http://www.searchforclasses.com . The site is organized between virtual and campus-based schools. Choose what kind of education you want (Associates, Masters, etc.) and SearchForClasses will give you options for the different majors which are available. Pick one, and you'll get an overview of the kinds of degrees available, and then in the far right column, you'll get links to the campuses which offer that degree. Unfortunately thanks to the positioning and the text type, the listings look a lot like text ads. Ewww. When you pick a campus, you're taken to a page of information about it at SearchforClasses' servers. While that's fine, I wish the URL for each campus was plainly listed somewhere. I would give more credibility to an online campus that had an .edu address, etc. You can also search for colleges by zip code (see the top of the page) or by state (see the bottom of the page.) In addition to the campus information there are also articles about online learning, financial aid, going back to school, etc. While the information here seems useful, I don't really like how it's organized.
