January 21, 2005Google Releasing an API for Google AdWords?Silicon Valley Watcher is reporting ( http://www.siliconvalleywatcher.com/mt/archives/2005/01/scoop_google_to.php ) that Google is planning to release an AdWords API to AdWords advertisers (not to the publishers who put Google ads on their sites, of which I am one.) From the story: "For the first time, the search giant will provide its advertisers with an application programming interface (API), which will enable them to link their computer systems with Google and control parts of the mammoth Google ad delivery system. The API will allow advertisers to self-administer the delivery, the timing and the price they will pay for their text ads." This is a fine idea. I'm glad that they're doing something like this; the more control advertisers have, it seems to me the more they'll advertise. On the other hand, I hope this API is not being released at the expense of the regular Google API, which is working on two and a half years of not being updated. There have been so many properties and so many features that can't be accessed through this increasingly-creaky API. C'mon, I want to use the API to search Google News and the phone numbers database! I want to get more than 1000 results! Heck yes I'll pay for it! Posted to Search Engines-Google | TrackBack
