New Business Search Engine Out of Iceland

There's a new search engine that combines business reference with business searching and a business directory. I confess I wasn't looking for innovation out of Hnifsdalur, Iceland, but FexIT, at http://www.FexIT.com, isn't half-bad.

The front page of the site is divided into several different query areas, including Web searching, a business directory search, and a businesses and terms search.

I started my search with the Web search, searching for book wholesalers. The (clearly-marked) sponsored result popped up first (sometimes it's more than one sponsored result) followed by the results which look like they're assembled by a meta-search engine; results come from Wisenut, Teoma, and HotBot. Relevancy was quite good except for the first non-sponsored result, which was for gift baskets.

After that I tried book wholesalers in the business directory. Again, the first result was way off (for an executive guide to sporting goods!) but the rest of the front page results were pretty good.

(You can also browse both of these engines by using the premade searches underneath the query boxes on the front page.)

In addition to the search boxes there's also a box for browsing business terms and acronyms, from A&D to Zip. You can search the terms too at the top of each page of acronyms.

There's a huge amount of information packed into this site. I'd tweak the search engines a bit -- the fact that only the first result was way off was kind of weird -- but there's a nice combination here of business information and search. I wouldn't this instead of Business.com, but I can imagine using them both together.
