January 12, 2005PubSub Launches Sidebar for FirefoxPubSub is now offering a sidebar that's compatible with Firefox. (It's also available for Internet Explorer, if you must.) You can get it at http://www.pubsub.com/downloads.php . PubSub is a monitoring service that can monitor Weblogs, newsgroups, EDGAR filings, airport delays, and press releases. Once you've downloaded the sidebar, you may have to go into View->Sidebars to see it. The PubSub sidebar is account-based; it comes with a sample account so you can see how it works. But to really use it, you'll need your own account. For an account you need provide no more than an e-mail address. Once you've done that, PubSub will e-mail you a password and you can get started. (You'll then need to go into the sidebar and use the "Options and Settings" button to change the account from the sample account to your new account.) As you create subscriptions for what you want to monitor, your sidebar will refresh with new information as your keywords show up in the sources you wanted to monitor. Though the sidebar information mentions Weblogs exclusively, it looked to me like the EDGAR filing keyword I typed in was picked up. Though I'm not normally a big fan of sidebars, this looks like it could come in really handy. Posted to Internet-Technology-Browsers | TrackBack
