About.com on the Block

About.com, which used to be The Mining Company, is being sold by Primedia, Internet News story at http://www.internetnews.com/bus-news/article.php/3481826 .

The bidders for it are Google, the New York Times, Yahoo, the AOL unit of Time Warner and Ask Jeeves.

My smart money is on AOL or Google. My nerd money is on Yahoo. My "wouldn't it be interesting" money is on Ask Jeeves or Yahoo (I'm still waiting for Google to break Blogger out and take over the universe.)

I'm not going to make odds about how long it'll take after About.com is bought for its new owners to knock it off with the external-page-frames-carrying-advertisments already.
