February 21, 2005Hawaii Image BankIs it cold where you are? Me too. Imagine something warmer. The Hawai'i Visitors & Convention Bureau has announced a new online image library. Use a newer browser and make sure you have referrer logging enabled or it won't work. It's available at http://www.hvcb.org/imagelibrary . After you go through the entrance part of the site (only the part available to the public is currently open; parts for media and travel industry folks are coming soon) you'll see that you have access to over 500 images in two sets. Images are divvied out over several topics, including arts & culture, flora, and scenic. Each category shows you a set of thumbnails. Click on the thumbnail and you'll get a little gray popup which offers to provide you with more information, get a preview, or add the item to your "Collection basket." The information page provides more detail about the photo as well as licensing and creator contact information. The preview shows you a slightly (but alas only slightly) bigger version of the picture. After you're done gathering pictures, you can click on collection basket to download your files. You'll have to provide some information -- name, company, phone, e-mail, and project information. Phone? Sheesh. Anyway, once you go through all that, you can download your items in low or hi res format, and that's how my new desktop image is of the Waimea Canyon. Posted to US-Hawaii | TrackBack
