February 16, 2005Is It the Return of Northern Light? So yesterday I got an e-mail addressed to Former Northern Light Customer (which I was, years and years ago) announcing that Northern Light is back. I'm a little surprised that they sent me that and nothing at ResearchBuzz, but okay, let's go with it. Northern Light has returned to offering a research subscription service for both individual users and enterprises. The sources available includes a "business Web" of over 30 million pages from 18,000 Web sites of public companies, trade journals, and related sites. Against an index of 8 billion general Web pages (and that's just a fraction of Web sites available!) this looks skinny. The business press index looks better. An collection of 6 million articles from 1,400 trade journals. There's also a collection of 8,000 daily news sources with a full text index updated every two minutes. They're also bringing back the Search Alerts, which are e-mailed updates whenever a news story matches your keyword (I had so much fun with Northern Light News Alerts back in the late 90s!). But I saved the best part for last -- AN ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT PLAN! Unlimited searching, alerts, and document access for $50 a month. You can get more information on the service at http://www.northernlight.com/library.html . Posted to Search Engines-Northern Light | TrackBack
