March 10, 2005Customizing the Google News DisplayGoogle's just added a new feature to its news page that allows you to customize the layout. Check out the page at http://news.google.com/ , over on the right. As you can see you now have the option to drag the different sections around on the page to get it to look the way you like. Furthermore, if you click on a section you can also edit how many stories show in that section and which edition (US, etc.) the section comes from. You can also delete the section if you like. You can also add a standard section (the sections vary by what country you're looking at, but it looks like generally there are between six and eight sections per edition) or a custom edition. The custom edition allows you to specify keyword searches (it'll do all keywords) and get the results in their own section. You can have between 1 and 9 stories in your custom section. (Be sure to click on Advanced to see a couple more options.) Once you've generated your custom page, look down at the bottom of it for a link called Share your customized news with a friend, which gives you a link to either spread around your customized layout, or view it yourself across different computers. You can get more information on the new custom news feature at http://news.google.com/intl/en_us/about_customized_news.html . I like it, nice nice, good stuff, but please. How about some RSS feeds? PLEASE? Posted to Search Engines-Google | TrackBack
