March 23, 2005Gigablast Adds Related Pages FeatureGigablast ( http://www.gigablast.com ) which is up to 1.5 billion pages in its index holy cow, has announced a new "related pages" feature. I would have thought that pages related to a search term would be, oh, I don't know -- SEARCH RESULTS. But according to Matt Wells, related pages are relevant search results which don't necessarily contains the terms for which you're searching. It's hard to miss this new feature seeing how it's in bright yellow on the results page. Do a search -- say for "high blood pressure." You'll see in a yellow box on the search results that there are three related pages to the query, including pages on controlling and avoiding high blood pressure. Above the yellow box there's a blue box with terms related to your search term that you can use to narrow your search. I took the search for "high blood pressure" and added the term "Kidney Disease." I got another three related pages, but they weren't snippets and one of them, according to its title, was a 404 page. The related pages show up three to a search results page but the box is expandable; when I looked at all the related pages for "high blood pressure" I saw 20 results, from 100% relevance to 56% relevance.
