March 29, 2005Topic Hunter Meta Search In Several Different CategoriesI am generally not a big fan of meta-search engines, but Topic Hunter isn't bad. Actually it's not what I consider a meta-search engine -- meta-search engines, to me, aggregate results from a variety of resources. Instead Topic Hunter points you to search resources in a variety of topics. You can find it at http://www.topichunter.com/index.php . The front page starts out with major search engines, including MSN, Google, Icerocket, and Yahoo. Hold your mouse over the name of the resource for a nice description of the search engine and what it offers (and don't forget to check out the "More General Searches ->" link at the bottom of the page -- lots of search engines here.) Down at the bottom of the page there are links of other groups of resources to search, including meta-search engines, blogs, RSS (yes, two different tabs), movies, image search, and audio/video. Once you've picked a topic, enter a query in the search box and click on the resource you want to search and you'll get taken to that resource with a page of search results. Not all resources that I saw had a description if you held the mouse over them, but the ones that I saw were very good. There are a large number of topics here and a bunch of search engines. Nice, definitely worth a look. Posted to Search Engines-Various | TrackBack
