March 22, 2005Vivisimo Adds a Gov Tab at Clusty.comMeta-search engine Vivisimo ( http://www.vivisimo.com ) has added a Gov tab to its clustered search engine, Clusty ( http://www.clusty.com ). The new Gov search is available at http://gov.clusty.com/ . According to the Web site here's what Clusty searches: " It combines a metasearch of FirstGov, MSN limited to the ".gov" domain, DefenseLink, political news from Reuters, the Associated Press, and CNN, and a number of prominent American think tanks, including RAND, The Brookings Institution, and The Cato Institute." Actually you get a lot on the front page at without running a single search. On the left side of the front page is a set of clustered topics for government news, which at this writing includes Terri Schiavo, World Bank, Intelligence Reforms, and Tom DeLay. Links to relevant stories are down at the bottom of the page. The query box is at the top and gives you the option to search all the sources in the Gov tab, or just FirstGov, think tanks, political news, the 2006 Federal budget, the 9/11 report, or the Duelfer report. I did an all-sources search for "Disability" and got the top 298 results. Clusters on the left of the results page included Social Security, Health, Veterans, DoD, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The result listings themselves include page title, snippet, source (MSN, First Gov, etc.) and the ability to open a quick preview. In addition to searching, users can also find their government representatives here. Entering a state name or postal code will list the names of the senators for that state, along with pictures and a link to their voting record and biography. Entering a zip code will list the name of the congressional representative for that area, along with a link to a bio and additional information. Posted to Government-US | TrackBack
