April 11, 2005Browse Blogs by Geographic LocationAh, blogs, and geography. Two great tastes that go great together. Witness their beautiful music at BlogMap -- http://www.feedmap.net/BlogMap/ . Here you can browse for weblogs by location, set the location of your blog, and search for blogs by location. I started browsing first. Browsing lets you start by looking at countries, with countries in larger fonts apparently being better-represented. The best-represented countries here are the US, UK, India, Canada, the Netherlands, and Australia. I looked at India. I got a map of India with red Xs representing where the blogs are. (They seem to be concentrated mainly in one area.) beneath that there's a list of blogs, with title, description, and location. For each blog you can also go to the blog, get the XML feed, and see other bloggers who are near this one. Searching is by location -- it looks to be for the most part city and state. I searched for London and got 39 results. I searched for Toronto and got over 30 results, but when I searched for Ontario I got only two, and a pretty weird map at the top of the page. If you'd like to add your 'blog to this site, go to http://www.feedmap.net/blogmap/submit.aspx and follow the steps. Posted to Internet-Weblogs | TrackBack
