April 05, 2005LOC Releases James Madison PapersThe Library of Congress has released the James Madison Papers to their American Memory Web site: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/madison_papers/ . The collection includes about 12,000 images in about 72,000 digital images. From the front page you can view a Madison timeline (from 1723-1836), read essays about Madison, or browse the collection by title, name, or series (there are six series of data, from General Correspondence and Related Items, 1723-1859 to Miscellaneous Manuscripts, ca. 1763-1836. A search for the word "Virginia" got 105 results, including a Thomas Jefferson address to Virginia citizens in 1783 as well as letter from Virginia delegates to James Madison. I did not see transcripts for the document images I viewed. Posted to Culture-People-Archives | TrackBack
