May 24, 2005Golf Guide Includes US, Europe, South AfricaIt's a bit of a slow load at the moment, but there's enough content at Where2Golf, including literally hundreds of reviews of golf courses, that it's a fun rummage for the golfing enthusiast. You can reach it at http://www.where2golf.com . Dropdown menus for finding the courses are available on the left of the front page. Not much of the US is covered yet -- only SC (it's called "The Carolinas" but it's really only South Carolina) and Arizona. I looked at South Carolina. I got a list of seventeen different courses. The results included the phone number of the golf course, rating (looks like 1 to 5), nearest city, and name of the designer. Click on the name of the course and you'll get additional information including Web site, yardage for the course, hotels near the course, fees, (not exact fees, only how relatively expensive it is) and how to reach the course. There's also the review. Unfortunately what little I know about golf I got from reading The Heart of a Goof, so I have a difficult time parsing the statement "Apart from the two back-nine par-3's, water is not a major issue here, but negotiating the significant green-side bunkering and the large, slick, superbly maintained greens, will determine whether you score well or not." Your mileage will vary. There's other information on the site apart from golf course reviews. There's also an encyclopedia of golf tournaments, a Who's Who of golf, and a golf dictionary which I really need. Posted to Entertainment-Sports-Golf | TrackBack
