Guardian Wants You To Ask Aristotle

The UK Guardian has a feature available called Ask Aristotle, which they describe as "a guide to who holds power across Britain." You can get a description and a search form (search form in the blue box on the left) at http://politics.guardian.co.uk/userhelp/story/0,9479,461876,00.html.

You can use the search engine to find people or find areas. I searched for Swindon and got six results -- Staffordshire South, Swindon North, etc. I picked Swindon South. I got results for the 2005, 2001, and 1997 general elections, with a link to a "full election history" that actually didn't include any additional information. All candidates in the election, whether winning or not, are hyperlinked.

How much information is available for each candidate varies; Roly Gillard of the R&R Loony party had only one election's results listed, while 2005 winner Anne Snelgrove had election results, Web site address, address, phone number, and constituency target information.

In addition to candidate information, search results also include a constituency profile of the area, local newspaper (the ones I saw were linked), local government and European parliamentary zone.
