More Mashing Up -- RSS Mix

Mashing up is turning into a meme -- first it was music, then it was Web services.. now it's RSS feeds.

RSSMix (available at http://www.rssmix.com/ ) Allows you to specify any number of RSS feeds to be blended together into one uberfeed. Once you have an uberfeed there are other things you can do with it, but one thing at a time.

I love spreadsheets, and there are some great Excel blogs out there. So let's mix together some of them. Cue the linky-love:

http://www.automateexcel.com/index.php?disp=xml
http://www.dicks-blog.com/feed/
http://blog.livedoor.jp/andrewe/index.rdf
http://office.weblogsinc.com/rss.xml

Paste that list into the box at RSS Mix, and after a moment it'll give you a link to an RSS feed that mixes the contents of all the above feeds, and a link to see what the feed looks like in HTML format. Unfortunately I don't see how you can limit the feed -- only include the last five items from the feed, say.

Now what can you DO with this? Well, you can put it in your feed reader and read it, or you can put it on your Web site and let other people read it. RSS Mix also has a News Box Wizard that allows you to take a mixed feed (or any other RSS feed for that matter) and turn it into something you can display on your site. Options for the News Box Wizard include the number of stories to display, color sets, width and height, and box alignment. The wizard generates code for you to put on your site. Cool!
