June 29, 2005Del.Icio.Us Details With Yahoo ImagesAnd in the "Resource name I'll never be able to pronounce" category, the winner is extisp.icio.us, a site that provides visual information about deli.icio.us usernames and mixes their tags with Yahoo Image results. It's available at http://kevan.org/extispicious. There are actually two tools on this page. The first one allows you to enter a del.icio.us username and get a random scattering of the tags they've used, with the most-frequently-used tags the largest. I only know one del.icio.us username off the top of my head so I used it: librarystuff. The largest tag was system:unfiled, which didn't lead to a valid link, but there were other keywords including rss, weblogs, and books_to_read. Unfortunately books_to_read was right behind Weblogs so I couldn't click on it. The other clickable links took me straight to the relevant del.icio.us page. The second tool searches a del.icio.us user's tags against the Yahoo Images database. The results here are filtered but users are warned that results may not be safe for work. It's an interesting culture soup -- mouse over the returned pictures to see what tags they're related to -- but I didn't find it particularly useful/enlightening.
