June 01, 2005It's Google's Summer of CodePut on your tie-dyed pocket protectors and your granny glasses, baby, because it's Google's summer of code. Or something. Don't try to write clever lead-ins this late at night. Here's the skinny: Google is hoping to team up students and open source organizations to create open source projects. If a student successfully completes his/her project at the end of the summer, they get a cash award of $4500. (Actually they get $500 for startup costs at the beginning and $4000 at the end if they complete the project and it meets stated goals according to the mentoring organization.) There are FAQs on the site for both participants and mentors and the deadline's June 14, so hop to it. All the details at http://code.google.com/summerofcode.html. I wonder if Michael Fagan can get a special achievement award? :-> Posted to Search Engines-Google | TrackBack
