June 11, 2005Kentucky.gov Gets a Site Redesign and New ServicesKentucky.gov ( http://www.kentucky.gov ) has relaunched their Web site with a new look and added new services as well. The new site now has a service that allows visitors to sign up for e-mail alerts. To take advantage you'll have to sign up for an account. This is free but note they do ask for a lot of information. (Note also that a lot of the information is optional.) Once you're registered you'll have the option to "Manage Your News Center Susbscription Settings". Choose that and you'll get a page of choice of several different topics and several different agencies from which you can get information. You can choose how often you wish to receive information (immediately, daily, or weekly), how you want to get the information (HTML or plain text) and whether you want to receive general announcements. There's also a place that you can specify a mobile/wireless address. Nice touch. There are two other components of the new site that may interest you. First there's a a new "eDemocracy" section that provides federal, state, and local government information. (It's at http://kentucky.gov/edemocracy/ ) There's also the Local Government Resource Center, which provides information on Kentucky cities and counties. That's at http://kentucky.gov/local/ .
