Open Source Search Clustering Project

I've been writing a lot about various clustering projects, so the folks at Carrot Search thought they better hip me to what they're doing.

They're an open source clustering project that's been around for a while. It's at http://sourceforge.net/projects/carrot2/ . There's a demo of the clustering service at http://carrot.cs.put.poznan.pl/carrot2-remote-controller/index.jsp . An experimental search for "chips" brought clusters that included potato chips, Intel chips, casino chips, RFID chips, hot chips, cool chips, and Woodbridge Vintage Chips. The interesting thing about these clusters to me is how small some of them were -- 2 or 3 in each item.

There's also a commercial implementation of the technology at http://www.carrot-search.com . Try the demos page at http://www.carrot-search.com/demos.html for clustered searches of dmoz data and a selected set of RSS feeds.
