July 04, 2005Oishii! For Finding Del.Icio.Us Good StuffI don't know what Oishii! is supposed to mean, but the first thing that popped into my mind is what Rincewind is always saying in the Terry Pratchett books. But that's not what it is. Instead it's a tool for finding del.icio.us good stuff. You can use it at http://opencontent.org/oishii/ . Update: I am informed that "Oishii" is Japanese for delicious. A practical reader warns: "Pronunciation is important, since 'orishi' means 'buttocks'." I've been so used to weird names from resources that I never even considered that it was an actual word. Thanks to the people who wrote to set me straight. It's very simple. Every five minutes Oishii polls the del.icio.us front page and lists all links which have more than 30 people linking to them. Oishii's front page lists the linked page name along with the number of people who have linked there. There's an RSS feed, of course. I reloaded the page a few times and while there was some overlap, I was surprised at how completely the list of resources changed. Interesting but it'd generate a HUGE list of RSS entries.
